So I turned on the 50in Rear Projection TV that we’ve had for a little over a year and I hear the sound of shattering glass...there’s audio but nooo visual. Fuck.

If I had to take a guess, I’d say it’s the mirror in the back that does the actual projecting. That would account for the sound and the lack Scrubs.

Would anyone have an idea as to how much that would cost to fix? Or maybe even a better idea of what happened? Help por favor and I will rape you with 5*s.

Exact same thing happened to us! I don’t know what the price will be like in the states, but it was more worth it for us to get a new tv.

Haha nice 4+ post count.
But yeeeeeah...found out that it’s the LAMP and not the mirror. Costs between $150-$300 for a replacement and we can do the switch at home ourselves.
Woot!?

Spook, I somehow, by the power of Jebus, got that BRAND NEW 50 inch HDTV for $600...it retails at $1500. Yeah, I’m good.

Anywayz, I already ordered a new lamp. Thanks for offering to help anyway, Dodge.

Yeah, But it is Rear Projection which means its fat as hell.
But I’d still trade up our 42’’ none-HD Plasma.

I think the same thing happened to the TV that I have in my basement. My boss from where I work gave me and my friend a big screen TV for free, but it just doesn’t work. They said it would only cost $250 for repair, since I know nothing about televisions. So that’s a $600 dollar TV for only about $250! Yay!!

^Already solved. Thanks for your concern. Also, that question was already asked. Wear and tear items are not covered under the legal definition of "warranty".

is it a flat panel or a crt? if it’s a flat panel, shine a flashlight on it while it’s on, and if you can see the part of the screen you have the light on, then you’ll know for sure that it’s the backlight

the shit i learned working at radioshack ha
