...for hospital!
About to head down the usual 250 mile trip, staying at my sisters overnight and then into hospital at 2pm tomorrow for my CT scan. Then I’ll be kept in overnight and should get this evil frame removed the next day (depending on the scan, but they’re pretty sure it will be coming off).
See you all in a few days! =]

Good luck man, hopefully you get that shit off.
How come they wouldn’t allow you to eat before your operation?
And if you get screws put in just to hold a single bone in your foot back together, you think they put that big contraption on too? I think I have to get pins and screws placed in my foot shortly haha.

Under anaesthetic there’s a risk of it coming back up.
Also the anaesthetic won’t be as effective, and he wouldn’t want to wake up halfway through the operation...
But are you really having a general anaesthetic to have a cast removed, Coopz?

So I suggest you make like a hollywood model and... well, you know where I’m going with this.
Just make sure your on empty before they operate. =)

lol, so true overlord! Thankfully the weather was a lot better this time, and mum took me down in the car as my dad is working away and wouldn’t be able to take me.
It seems the question about why you can’t eat before the operation has been answered, so I’ll skip that bit. But CHOMPY was actually referring to when they made me starve before my operations in the first 2 eggs. They had to put me to sleep for them because they were such major surgeries (The second one took over 6 hours!). I didn’t think I’d be going to sleep for this one as they didn’t give me anything befoe I got the foot part removed. I was quite looking forward to watching and recording the whole thing on my phone, and doing as much unbolting and pulling of wires as they’d let me, but I was put to sleep without the option. I suppose with 8 pins and 3 sections of frame being removed it was a bigger procedure than last time when they only took out 3 pins and 1 section of frame.

It wasn’t a cast you fool, it was 8 metal pins going right through the bones in my leg! :-P
So I was starved from midnight, but good old Dot the nurse brought me tea and toast at 11:30pm to keep me going.
I guess I shouldn’t tell the whole story here, otherwise I’ll have nothing left to put in the long-awaited final leg egg! There’s not so much stuff this time but I took some pics of stuff like my room in the hospital and a last few shots of the frame, and some "scenes of scotland," pictures of the countryside I took on the way down to Edinburgh. And of course, there’ll be pics of me wearing my good jeans and new trainers (which feels fucking awesome!) and a video of me lurching about doing a fair imitation of a zombies walking gait!

Nah, they’ll do that internally, you shouldn’t need any external fixation. Shouldn’t be anything to worry about :-)
