I too wish the forum was more active.
But the most recent egg has 55 votes, so I guess there are more than 15 "active" members. It’s just that some of them aren’t active in the forums, and a lot of them only post in the forum once or twice a day.
I made nearly 80 posts in 24 hours this week. (And they were all proper posts, I very rarely do the 2 word reply thing.) No-one can say I’m not active!

I’ve got to say I’d agree with you there Phil. Allthough my activity has slipped a bit lately, but not much.
The talk of active members has reminded me of the list I started a short while back, it was actually quite surprising to see that there are so many active members. Some of them don’t post much, but if you scroll through the list you’ll see that most of them are still around and posting, allthough a couple do seem to have disappeared. Check it out. (Scroll down to second last post for full list.)
An attack would be fun and would give people something to talk about and boost activity briefly, but it would never be allowed. Besides, once the attack was over activity would subside to it’s normal ammount.
It’s the same with the free-for-alls (which I think have now been stopped.) They are fun and boost activity, but only for the hour or two that they are going on for, and maybe for a little bit longer with the "Discuss the free-for-all" thread if one is made.
If we want the forums to be more active there has to be more to it I’m afraid.
Weasel could help by fixing the glitches, and maybe devising some better anti-spam system other than the level 3 posting requirements, both of which make being a new member and settling in here more of a challenge than anything, and so puts new members off and they just leave.
But we all know that the chances of that happening are slim to none.
We are the ones who will decide if RE gets more active or not. It’s down to us.
I try hard to make this place a bit more active and fun. If our current members would all just post a bit more, it wouldn’t be as bad as it is. I’m not saying everyone should make 80 posts per day, but if everyone just makes a bit more effort then it will make a difference. Instead of just reading a thread and thinking "cool" or whatever, reply! We’ve all seen the threads which have 90 views and only 3 replies. People look but don’t post.
If people just posted more, the site would be a lot more active, and this in turn would also encourage new members. When people come and they see that there isn’t much going on, they probably think "Fuck it, I’m not spending 10 days voting on stuff to get enough points to upgrade just to post in that forum. It’s pretty dead anyway."
So, people... Let’s start a revolution, yeah? We can fix this thing!!

If possible weasel could make one of those spam systems (forgot what its called) but only the spammer sees his posts, none of the other members do. So the spammer thinks that he is fucking with the website and feels like he is accomplishing something and getting a reaction... but nobody else sees his posts

I’ve seen it a lot worse, the past few days haven’t been too bad. Infact the other day was quite a bit busier than average.
And lol Phil, that would be pretty funny!
While a better spam system could help, it could also end up hindering us even more if he didn’t put a lot of effort into it. (Which I think we know he wouldn’t, if he were miraculously to decide to implement something to replace the level requirement) The thing about spam systems is that they aren’t foolproof and can end up fucking with the legitimate members real posts (in my experience anyway). Youtube is a fine example. Comment limit exceeded? Just because you make 4 posts in 10 minutes doesn’t mean your spamming. It just means your being active!! Their anti-spam thing fucks me off and stops me being as active as I otherwise would be.
I really don’t see weasel changing anything on this site apart from the absolute bare minimum it needs to keep going anyway.

wait... if the_Hands are admins they might have the database password/program so if we worked together we could update the site, if anyone knows how to code/program.

It may just be specualtion, but I think that the majority of ratings are false. I think that there’s a bot that rates shit.
