So I was on the way to school today. I am a senior in college, anyways so I pass this State Trouper as I pass him I look at my speedometer and see that I am going 15 over the speed limit. So I am like F*$K I look back and see him pull out by the time he pulls out there are like 6 cars between us so I wasn’t sure he was going after me. He then drives on the shoulder lane to get to me, and over his PA system he tells me to pull over. I pulled into some restaurant parking lot and he walks up to the car and I expect him to tell me that I was speeding. No he said “I pulled you over because you’re not wearing your seat belt.” I then show him how my seat belt is not working, and I pulled out the replacement part to fix it. He asks why I haven’t fixed it yet I tell him because I don’t have the proper tools and the tool I need comes in a set and I don’t have the money to get the set yet. He asks me how much the tool is, and I tell him 29.99. He said that’s no excuse I then show him my bank statement that was like 15 minutes old. I only had like 15 something in the bank. He then takes my license and registration. Goes to his car and does his thing when he comes back he has a ticket for me its only 25.00 but I had a very good excuse to why I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt. This guy is a FU#King DIC^ there is a big difference in not wearing your seatbelt and not being able to wear it. Fu@k you Officer Burns

Municipal bugets are tight these days , so you would think he was pulling you over to make his quota . But in reality , he was just looking out for your $afety .

Safety is more important. A good excuse shouldn’t get you off the hook. I hope your life is worth more than 30 bucks. *Excellent* J@b Officer Burns

Be thankful he didn’t also write you up for speeding too! Then you’d not only have a small fine to pay, your insurance would go up too. I’d say you were let off cheap. You’re lucky you didn’t have your car towed for being unsafe as the safety belt was inoperable. Man did you have a lucky day!

I wouldn’t call him a dick, but it’s pretty stupid that he gave you a $25 fine when he knows you only have $15! Especially when you need money to fix the thing that he fined you for! If you pay the fine instead of fixing your seatbelt, then you could get done again next week for the seatbelt thing! lol. But I suppose as far as he’s concerned you might not really be planning on fixing it, and this way it’s a bit of a kick up the ass to get it fixed or not drive again until it’s fixed. At least he didn’t do you for speeding too!
Can’t you borrow the tool from someone you know?

Yep, you got off light there dude, if I had to choose
between a seat belt ticket or a speeding ticket, I
would go with the seat belt ticket. It’s only an
infraction whereas the other is a misdemeanor.
infraction= no points
misdemeanor= points
Besides, if you go to court you may get
out of a seat belt ticket.

I agree with GMT. In my opinion I think they may care about your safety partially but I think it is mostly a money making scheme.

Get the seatbelt fixed and show proof (take pictures and have the receipt for the tool). When you go to court they’ll throw the case out. The reason the officer gave you the ticket was to inspire you to have it fixed. Surely, one of your friends or family members has the proper tools. Perhaps you or someone you know has a credit card. Buy the tool, fix the seatbelt, return the tool for a full refund. We all hit hard times and that’s when our clever skillz must pull us through. Use The Force, master Luke, I know you can do it. XD
Here in Denver if you are caught driving without your license on your person, they will impound your car. Then you have towing and impound fees in addition to a ticket and fine for not having your DL with you. One guy was one block from his house and they still towed his car. Seems the voters here got tired of illegal aliens saying they had a license when pulled over but not having verification of one. That’s brutal, baby.
