Without going into a lot of boring detail, I’ll describe something that’s happened to me three times in the past couple of months:
-- I get an invitation to join a discussion board--for example, I get an IM from somebody I’ve had lots of IM chats with in the past, and he says, "Hey, xXXXx board is back up now!" (After it crashed, right? A crash that I had nothing to do with, btw.) "You should re-register, all your old posts are still there and people are still flaming you!!!"
-- I join said discussion board. I make a profile, including my IM and contact info because I’m so goddamn friendly.
-- I make a single (UNOFFENSIVE, NON-RULE-BREAKING) post on the board.
-- I am banned from the board. In one case I was banned after registering, without having made a single post. (Usually after that I get a bunch of spam and troll emails and IMs, but that’s ok because it gives me victims to vent my frustrations on.)
Ok so my questions for the members of this group are two:
* First, why would you suppose this was occurring, if it was happening to you?
* Secondly: What would you do if it was happening to you?
Please keep your answers theoretical and nonspecific! I am merely seeking feedback here, not trying to start a fight.
Let me note that this is not like infuriating to me or anything--I’m used to getting warnings from mods and getting banned, and blah-de-blah. But this is like a pattern here. I mean, yeah, it’s obvious that this is some sort of personal snark-ism that is supposed to demoralize me, but, well: Are these guys really so dumb? I wouldn’t do that to someone, i.e., invite them to my site just so I could ban them, not because I’m "nice" (whatever that means) but because I would figure that the person, even if he/she was REALLY, REALLY STUPID, would probably get around the ban at some point and DO SOMETHING to my website.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: I am NOT talking about this site; I repeat NOT talking about rotteneggs.)
So anyway, yeah--what are your answers to those two questions?

I don’t get it. Every discussion board I joined, I trolled the fuck out of it when I got bored and left.
I’ve never really bothered to join another, nothing can replace or come close to RE.

This has really happened--three times since the end of February of this year. I received another invite to another site a couple of weeks ago that I didn’t accept because I figured it would just happen again.
The thing that has me the most puzzled is why they would suppose that I don’t know how to get around an IP ban.
Like for example: Is someone PAYING them to do this? The last time this happened was just the other night: This dude who I have got to know pretty well over the last couple of years--he’s one of those I-suck-at-life types who thinks he’s "helping people" by paying out the ass to maintain a website, but it’s really just the only way he can have any friends--sent me an email from his email address to my personal email address. His email said, "The site’s back up, why don’t you join!?" I hadn’t been on that site in a really long time; I don’t really like it. I was bored, however, and so I went and registered on his site. I read a bunch of posts and replied to one. Several hours later I went back to the site to see if there had been any replies to my post, and I had been banned.
So I contacted this guy who had emailed me and said "WTF is this about?" and he GOT UPSET because I said "wtf" in my email because it was "disrespectful" and if I wanted my issue resolved I needed to learn how to be nice to people. (He actually did say that, I’m not making this up.) I ended up blocking his email because he wouldn’t leave me alone about it even after I said, "Ok whatever! You’re a shithead."
I know this guy--he’s not like a really vindictive person, just stupid. He seemed scared when I contacted him asking why this had happened.
That’s why I’m wondering what’s going on. xoxo

I think you’re sidetracking the issue, perhaps because of lack of understanding. But that’s ok! I totally support your virginity. Virgins are very important to me, which is why I’m so enthusiastic about rotteneggs.com.
Anyway: The thing I’m really curious about is why these people--who know me, and know that I am not concerned about IP bans--would do this. It seems like they want to do something that will make me angry or upset me, and that’s the only thing they can think of...?
That’s the only thing I can guess, but there may be other reasons. That’s why I’m asking. :)

Well three times in six months does sound a bit odd but I doubt its anything as serious as a conspiracy against you. It seems fairly likely that this is just paranoia.

I wouldn’t go back to a site that treated me that way.
There are far too many blog sites out there to put up with bullshit like that.
If you want to go back to that site use a proxy and tell them to "FUCK OFF,HAHAHA!!!!"

Do they know the person you sign up as is the person they invited?
Do they know you are the troll they banned years/months/days ago?
If either of these are true, they may be deltreeing the annoying troll that pisses them off without realizing it is their clever and amusing friend, Scarlett.
That is my very best guess. I don’t usually get banned for trolling for I have the best trolls ever. Lol. Oh, and I’m never conceited. Ever. Or maybe I have no trolls or time.
