I lack much to do online anymore so I thought I would drop back in.
Does anyone know what could cause a hotmail account to get about 24,000 IM add requests from random addresses in the space of roughly 15 minutes? it doesn’t seem like hacking as no one in my contacts has said anything about getting spam emails from me. as a precaution I have ditched my old account (was 7 years old, felt like putting down an old faithful dog) and made a new one which I’ll be keeping to myself for the time being.

yeah, it just kept going up and up, I changed the pass thinking it would do the trick like when you click on those dodgy licks people send you but 40 particular contacts kept trying again every 5 minutes or so after simultaneously. So I just made a new account. Now I’m having fun updating a shitload of important sites i’m on to add my new address.

What could it actually be though?
it was a mix of normal sounding email addresses (hacked accounts perhaps) and ones made of random characters that had obviously been generated with a 5cript.

Funny, I was contemplating doing the same thing (setting up a new hotmail) just earlier today as I have 580 unread e-mails, most of them are those forwarded jokes and chain e-mails from someone I know, I hate them so just stopped checking and they’ve been building up. And now recently something is going on (a few of you may be aware) where my e-mail address is being used to send out spam e-mails. It’s sent a few to my entire contacts list, and the other night I checked and saw it had been sending e-mails to random people not on my contacts list. I dont think its something on my computer as I;ve reformatted since it started happening. I changed my password so hopefully that’ll stop it, but I fancy a fresh start with a more up-to-date address and a revision of my contacts list. Can’t be arsed updating all the sites I use though, it’s such a hassle, so I decided to leave it for just now.
24,000 is fucking insane dude!

Aye Coopz,I got pissed of with my old Email too but I still use it out of habit.
I should probs start deleting Emails every now and again
 .

I don’t use email. I just have a couple spam boxes up, and then one gmail account for school shit.

my spam account (still in use) had nearly 12,000 unread spam at one point, the fuckton of attachments with some meant it had used all 1gb of space available at the time so i had to clear it.

hmm, my gmail has tens of thousends of emails....that was used for something a little more sinister haha.
Was probably somone that had a program, that wanted to fuck up your msn.
Cos there is no doubt, if you get 24k adds in the space of 15mins, your shit is gonna crash.
