So, I have a new idea for a project: A homemade, large-scale, single-scale, guass gun. By large scale I mean 2500 volt, the end result being a shoulder-launched guass gun.
So, I lhave scrapped and can probably scrap a few things around my house to make this. I have taken apart a microwave oven and found a large, 2500 volt, capacitor. I can take apart a 1600 volt electric flyswatter in order to charge the capacitor.
I have a bunch of very heavy duty switches and wire that will probably not melt under the high voltage current. (I got the wires from between the walls of an office building. It was being torn down and my dad was the mayor at the time, so I got an all-access pass to the building.)
I have some basic experience and knowledge of electricity and some advanced knowledge of electromagnetism.
So- the question is- Good Idea?

Oh, yeah, one more thing: What should I use as a projectile and a barrel? I was thinking just using some low-cost ferromagnetic bullets and a pipe with the same inside diameter as the bullet.

How big of a boom is this thing going to make?
PVC or Iron pipe for the barrel.

I don’t think taking microwaves apart is a good idea...

Even though he said he wasn’t giving out plans, I’m attempting to get a schematic for the dual chargers on that pistol, coopz. I know enough to do the rest...

pistol?... didnt look like no pistol to me...
Dunno what you’re talking about with dual chargers, didnt see him mention it anywhere, ot anythign about him not giving away details of anything. The de5cription seems to have explained exactly how it was done...

Keep the magentron from the microwave intact. You can strap it to your enemy’s head, and literally poach his brain inside his skull, provided you have a long enough power cord.
The claim is anything that’s cooked, not merely reheated, in a microwave oven is poached.

I see no reason why you can’t use disposable flash cameras for the chargers and flash caps for the capacitor banks.
As for timing, perhaps a photo sensor mounted in the barrel? Using a PIC micro controller would be much more precise and neater, but a photo sensor and an adjustable second coil may be easier.
