Is it even real? Think about it. We laugh at scientists and their theories even just hundreds of years ago, but at their time, their theories were accepted by the scientific community. We changed our methods of determining things and "proved" them wrong. Did we? Because maybe a few hundred years from now we will be looked upon as unintelligent because we were wrong. Aren’t all tests in science based on science? Tests based on formulas made up of other elements of science? If one is proven wrong, everything would have to be changed. But would the community be able to accept that? Perhaps not. Perhaps even if everything were to be proven wrong, no one would accept it and the person with the theory would be looked upon as unintelligent. This is intended to make you think about what you think is true or not, not to start an angry discussion, but please, put what you think.

To me, it seems as not really disproving something but expanding upon it. You get the basis from something then run with that idea, and come up with what you think is correct until someone takes your idea and finds something more updated.

but if something so important such as some of the first theories were actually wrong, wouldnt we realize it now because things just wouldnt work out?
like if we still thought the sun and planets revolved around the earth, wouldnt all our astronomical predictions about what would be where and when be wrong? and if our theory of us revolving around the sun was wrong, how can you explain that all the satelites and spaceships weve sent out, actually got to where we wanted them? cant just be luck
sure, the newer theories may be wrong, but they are based on theories that are mostly likely right because they work.
but hey, im so tired right now, so i may be wrong aswell :)

If science isn’t provable without science, it is false. Prove me wrong.

nothing is provable without science, therefore everything is false, so you cant be right :O

Thats like saying every car in the past like 50 years proved that Henry Ford had the wrong idea when he produced the Model-T. We as a race are constantly evolving (maybe not physically but definitely mentally) and until we reach the point where we know everything there is to know in the universe, we will constantly be proving ourselves wrong.

Just because the first theories were wrong doesn’t mean that they weren’t important or didn’t contribute to knowledge. It’s what we knew in the past that has helped us to figure out where we were wrong and what needed to be changed in order for everything to fit together. You have to start somewhere.
I believe that Scientists have the gist of things pretty much figured out right now though. It is just a matter of tweaking a few things and learning more about the stuff we don’t yet understand completely.

Quote: The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

To be honest, I believe God created this world and he created the sciences too. He made it so the universe fit like clockwork. So yeah, science is provable. He put it here to test our belief.

That reminds me of a verse from an Elliott Smith song.
Quote Elliott Smith: They say that god makes problems
Just to see what you can stand
Before you do as the devil pleases

And the global decline of pirates directly affects the rise in global warming.
Correlation alone is not proof.

Science is what we use to prove something, it is the logical progression of thought to explain what we see by proof through experimentation.
Unto itself It is not something that needs to be proven.
The results that science comes up with for any given set of circumstances is what needs to be proven.

If you don’t believe in gravity, does it cease to exist? Try it and see if you fly away.
