IMO the best band of all time. I was wondering if there are any other PF fans on RE.

My favorite song is Comfortably Numb.

Defiantly that was implied the whole dark side of the moon album is money while high. I also like The Wall because it tells a story.

Definately one of the best rock bands ever. Of course you have to love Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall is cool because of the story it tells but my favorite song of theirs is Paranoid Eyes from the album The Final Cut.

The final cut sucked. Glimour took way too much control and it seemed way to forced.

I think my favorite song by them has to be the same as yours DD. It’s that, or The Wall as a whole (it’s too hard for me to pick a single song), just because I’m a sucker for concept albums.

Pink Floyd is G-R-E-A-T!

Now despite the fact that I had the same ’Floyd avatar 99.99 percent of my time here on RE, they’re not my ultimate favorite band (Yes is my favorite.) But Pink Floyd comes close.

Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, to me are just, you know... a little overrated. Syd Barret was great, but what kind of acid-washed band would The Pink Floyd have ended up had he remained the front man? (As a side note. it’s said that Syd went insane when he was high on LSD... he held pieces of fruit in his hands and thought they were planets. When someone walked over and ate a piece, Syd was destroyed. But don’t quote me on this.) Syd was nuts.

Anyway, why hasn’t anyone mentioned Pink Floyd albums such as Meddle, A Saucer Full of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother, and one of my all-time favorites, Animals ? These are intelligent, passionate albums. I’ll be honest in saying that I don’t have The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, Us and Them, etc. but I plan on finishing my collection. (I have to purchase all of my music, and I’m always broke!)

Phew! As far as songs go, I like:

Sheep http://youtube.com/watch?v=VGurfyISnN8

Have a Cigar http://youtube.com/watch?v=z9ejaTQBkq8

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (this is part 1) http://youtube.com/watch?v=M90gQNfD758

Those are only a few, I’ll post more later.

Syd Barret had nothing to do with The Wall of DSOTM. However I am just starting to enjoy the earlier influence of pink floyd.

Comfortably numb is genius thou

I knew that, I guess I should have started a new paragraphio.

I guess that you already own PF’s first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Good, cool shit.

Barret also wrote a couple of singles with (or without, I can’t remember). One’s called "Harold Lane" (I think)... just google something, you’ll see what meesa’s talking about.

That’s the song I’ve been forgetting. The first Floyd song I ever heard, so that will always be special to me.

I’ve honestly been meaning to get that for the longest time, but I’ve never gotten around to it.

Its a matter of opinion. Most songs by bands today are between 3 and 7 minutes long. Its just cool to see some music that extends past 10 minutes.

I agree, but you can get that with bands today. It’s just not as many bands are creative. It’s just super long guitar intros with delay and special effects before the rhythmn and vocals kick in in modern day music. It’s nowhere nearly as musically dynamic or interesting as the music back then. They had passion and that’s all they wanted to do, which is what makes it timeless.
