I can’t beleive some of the shit I hear on mtv and on the radio. Ok so one night I’m packing bowl after bowl and mtv is on. And this weird song called Na Na nana Na na by Jim jones comes on and thhe whole song is soooo stupid, hes throwing fake money and the porsche they show in it is obviously plastic lol. Ithought it was some sort of spoof. I heard that on the radio and I couldnt beleive it. Music is dieing.
and now we have lil wayne a "once thuggish grew up on the streets slangin rocks" singing to 12 year old girls. I don’t understand I don’t even listen to the radio.
WTF is POKERFACE ABOUT?!!!!!!!
This music Television Network seems like its run and operated by a bunch of 12-15 year old girls.....

I’d say the majority of people watching MTV for the music are 12-15 year old girls. So the network is just catering to their viewers.

As much as i hate to say it, thedoors is right...they’re a corporation, they’re in it for the money. and unfortunately that means catering to their target audience, which just happens to be extremely impressionable.
i completely agree with you though, music today absolutely fucking sucks. gotta move on with the times though, there are still good artists out there...they just don’t get mainstream attention

I’d say he pretty much hit the nail on the head.
Also, MTV used to be good because they were playing what was popular with the target audience watching the station. When the mainstream ideas of "good" music changed MTV had to change with it in order to keep up its revenue.

there is a lot of really good music but in order to get some of it you have to just be in the know. Now I know what my parents where saying back in the day how the oldies is where it’s at. For me not the oldies but the older music, 80’s and 90’s rock and some of the newer and older metal. But the term "RAP" doesn’t mean what it used to.
haha It’s funny to think that lil wayne learned how to play guitar and now he’s trying to bank on it by releasing a rock cd hahaha the song prom queen is soo stupid. And that voice changer shit has got to stop.

First of all, let me be the first to say that I LOVE POKERFACE!!!!
I used to piss myself off with the notion that my generation was being cheated out of good music. The truth is, we are. I actually used to get really angry about "artists" like Britney Spears and the Jonas Bros. I could go on about it, but I wouldn’t be saying anything new.
Over the past few years I stopped getting so mad about pop music. But it wasn’t until recently that I started to like it. I have a gay friend who’s not a total fag named Chris who’s into all of the pop music. He’s not just one of those queers who’s into Madonna and shit, but who’s into a little bit of everything. Chris LOVES how fucked up Britney Spears is. He thinks that it’s cute. He LOVES the cool electronic sounds of Rhianna, Uffie, Lady Gaga, Kate Nash, Fergie, M.I.A., etc., etc., etc. They’re catchy. And you know what? They actually sound good (I am NOT talking about death metal, gangsta rap, and other degrading and insulting "music"). So in that regard, you have to give these people credit.
But here’s the thing; Chris knows that these people are so full of bullshit. He knows that they have no real composing and playing skills. My buddy plays the viola, which he taught himself in 4 months to get good enough for a high school level class, and the clarinet. He takes Music Theory and his favorite artists are classical musicians. And he’s also got a thing for Classic rock in the way of Led Zeppelin and Meatloaf.
What I’m trying to tell you guys that it’s OK to tap your feet to some funky beats and sing to "Disturbia" when it comes on the radio, so long as you stick to your guns. Of course I would rather our culture worship substance over style, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon. So better yourself. Get educated in the meantime, and don’t waste yourself on being angry. Not that you folks are the cynical type...
I didn’t bother proofreading that whole fucking thing, it’s 2:41 am and I NEED TO SLEEP. So if it looked or sounded like crap, forgivith me.

i think what you can do, is get poor as hell, live in your buddies house, lurk myspace and find music that hasnt even made it out of their home state.
MTV hasnt gotten to the underground to where bands with less than 50,000 myspace plays, its good :)

So what do you like, metal? rap? indie? They all have stereotypical shitty lyrics, backed by stereotypical shitty guitar rifts and drum beats. Music is a cookie cutter business and it has been since the 70’s. Your argument is old and you are not special for realizing this.
