here is a question for the those that are into pyrotechnics, if a 3" aerial shell has a 3 second time fuse, a 4" aerial shell - a 4 second time fuse , than what is the difference between the launch time and burst time for a 12 " chinese manufactured aerial shell.
Using a fibreglass mortar tube, would you (a) tie it to a metal stake (b) place it in a plastic drum say 44 gallon capacity and fill it with sand or(c)1/2 bury the mortar in the ground ??????
why would you do it that way ??????
I look forward to your answers

12 seconds? And I would pick to bury the tube because it offers solid support. A stake could get knocked loose and a drum full of sand could easily displace the sand.

thankyou for your reply Defiler, I’m testing the water so to speak
there was a 10 second delay, I suppose it varies with the quality of the product
The fibreglass tube is supposed to be 6 X the diameter of the shell , well it aint , the chinese must have different inches to what I’m used to. the metal stake could become a lethal missile in the event of a detonation of the shell in the tube,so the drum filled with sand is an option because of the reduced inetia of plastic and the ability of sand to absorb the gasses to some degree, partial burial , well it may seem to be the best solution ,but in the event of detonation , there would be a decent sized hole in the ground
thanks from Skull

Hole in the ground. Then fill the gaps with sand.
