I’ve seen PLENTY of the type of thing you are describing, Peter. I’ve described my experiences at great length on another site dedicated to occultism. I’m about to pass out at the moment but if you e-mail me I’ll be happy to give the particulars of several of these-- both dream encounters with the recently deceased (which seems to happen to me a lot) and also "ghost stories" I’ve collected from other people over the years, many of which are amazing.

It’s not unusual at all for people who have only just died to create effects in the lives of those they were close to.

Posted: Oct 01, 2005 10:00 p.m. - Subject: a dead person in a dream (& you didn’t know he was dead)

(This is something I posted on another site under the topic "lucid dreaming", except what I’m describing here is not really a lucid dream-- it was a dream in which I met with and talked to a person that I later found out was dead. This happens to me on a regular basis. NOTE FOR PETER13: I also dream about my pets who have died too, see below.)

I have had dreams about the recently or more remotely deceased and it’s FREAKED OUT. Again, this is never on purpose-- although one way I can tell I’m having a lucid dream over the past couple of years is when I see a pet of mine that died about two years ago. This dog died of a heart attack at about age twelve. When I see him in a dream he always seems very happy and he’s usually with a gang of other dogs. When I see him I realize that I am dreaming and then I can do other intentional things in the dream.

However, it’s when I have dreamed about dead PEOPLE that things get bizarre. Within the last few months I had a dream about a guy I had known for years and years, though he was never what you’d call a friend. He was a guitar player in another band that was really popular off and on and played in the same city as me. He was a heroin addict and so whenever I saw him I never knew if he was going to be friendly and congenial (just scored/shot up) or angry and sarcastic (jonesing). From time to time we would sort of bare teeth at each other but it was just one of those things-- we were never really buds and we never really fought. At the point I had this dream about him, I had not seen or talked to him in years.

So a couple of months ago I dreamed about this guy just out of the blue. It was one of those really odd detailed dreams, not a lucid dream, but just really chronologic and like a "movie" instead of jumpy and disconnected like dreams usually are. I dreamed I was keeping some birds for a friend and one of them got loose. I followed this bird for what seemed like miles, eventually ending up in a very remote area that was mostly farmland. I was walking along a drainage canal with trees planted along it and it was sunset. I saw some buildings up ahead. It was starting to get dark and I didn’t know where I was, so I went up to them. One was a fish shack type place and the other a big gray building like a government office.

I headed toward the fish shack intending to ask for directions, when a man came out (he was holding some fried catfish too, it SMELLED GREAT) and said, "He’s been asking about you-- if you want to go see him, though, don’t ask for him by name. Here..." And he writes down a name on a little slip of paper and hands it to me. "Ask for this guy and they’ll let you see him." And of course I’m kinda like, "See WHO?" And I look at the piece of paper and there’s some name written on it that I don’t recognize at all.

So I walk into the big gray building and it turns out to be a prison, but it’s one of the lowest-security prisons I’ve ever seen because there are people visiting inmates in a big place with tables off behind a little flimsy partition, and only a couple of guards. A lot of people are standing in line at a window, apparently asking to be allowed to visit inmates.

Ok, so this is pretty weird, but it gets even weirder because I go up to a guard and hand him this little slip of paper and he’s like, "Oh, just go sit down over there, then!" and points to a table. So I just walk in and sit; no pat down search, no "check your wallet" or anything like that. Some of the people in line, however, get pretty irate because they just let me go in, though! This one lady starts bitching in a really loud voice and the guard tells her to shut up.

So I still have no idea who I’m going to see. I wait for a few minutes and then this guy I was talking about earlier, "Larry the guitar player" comes in wearing a gray prison jumpsuit and sits down across from me. I’m all amazed. "Larry? What the hell are YOU doing here?" and he says, "Well, it’s kind of a long story. You know-- my bad habits and stuff!"

And so we sit and have a short awkward conversation and he’s saying stuff like, "Yeah, I know it’s pretty strange huh? I never expected it to be like this!" and so on. Meanwhile I’m totally puzzling about the whole thing.

Eventually I leave the prison and make my way back through the countryside to the place where the birds are all in their cage, and even though I gave up finding the escaped bird a long time ago, I find him in the area and a security type guy who’s there helps me catch him and put him back in his cage.

So a couple of days later I’m talking to a friend on the phone, and I say, "Guess who I dreamed about the other night? Larry D----, and he was in prison!" and my friend kind of pauses and says, "Um... didn’t you know that Larry’s dead?" and of course I’m like, "WHAT?? No, I had no idea!"

I guess this guy died a couple ofyears ago of a heroin overdose (of course).

So this is sort of thought-provoking needless to say. Did this guy want something from me? Did I want something from him? Did he need for me to tell somebody "on the outside" something for him?

And I guess the most disturbing question I have would be: DAMN! Is all that stuff about "purgatory" really TRUE after all???

This is just a single example of dreams I’ve had about dead people where I could "check my results" later. One time I dreamed that I had to help a guy that was dead realize that he was dead because he thought he was still alive and was causing problems for the living. So I tend to believe that there’s something to these experiences besides "an undigested bit of beef". Again, if there was any way to consciously direct these dream experiences, that would be rad-- and I’m sure there is, I just haven’t figured it out yet.

You know you should write all this down in the dream journal, thoose really help later down the line cause you can just look back on it and remember it like it was yesterday! im serious! its spooky!
Just keep a blank journal and a pen right by your bed and everytime you wake up grap it and just start writting everythng you can remember while your still in a half away half asleep mode. Date it and also write down if you smelled things or saw things that popped out at you. You may have some kind of an untapped gift, you should take advantage of that.

I have had things like this happen to me before in my life and i actually have a couple of ournals worth of writting, and everytime i go through them it all comes rushing back to me.
I have even had premanitions, about talking to people that i didnt even know yet!!! yeah crazy i know!

Once i had a dream i was in a fitting room (a place a store were you can try on clothes to see how they fit before you buy them) and i was talking to this somalian girl. She was real nice and we were great friends, she was wearing this scarf on her head and a white hoodie that zipped up in the front. I remember as we were talking there were racks of clothes all around and we were giving people numbers as they came and went from the fitting room.

After this dream i thought "what the fuck?? i dont even know any somalian chicks and why the hell would i be in a fitting room talking to one.
Well about 3 monthes later i got a job for a large department store(which i still work for today) and they put me in the fitting room. Ok well i had remembered the dream, but there was still no somalian chick working with me.
So about 2 or 3 monthes AFTER THAT, this somalian girl starts working with me!! i trained her and one day she came to work wearing THE SAME EXACT THING SHE WAS WEARING IN MY DREAM. I thought dejavu, and she was like "huh?" and i tried telling her about it once but she thought it was a bunch of bull. But shes still an awesome person and we are still good friends today.
That was one year ago. lol
