you can buy activated carbon at petsmart or any fish place. it’s used to remove discoloration, odors and organics from fish tanks and it comes in a 26 oz jar for only $7.69. this would probably be good for gunpowder since this stuff is probably very pure and charcoal:carbon i think. heres a pic of it

whats the differance between activated and nonactivated?

the difference is that activated is heated up a LOT until all of the impurities burn off. This would suck ass for black powder as it has none of the flammible and volitle impurities that nonactivated has. See my pyrotechnical egg for making charcoal.
