I was thinking to myself about this site.. And how I havn’t seen how to make any caltrops.. So, I thought about it and here’s my idea!!!
You will need,
1 piece of chewed gum (fresh :P)
5 sewing needles (could use points from pins maybe)
Chew some gum. When it’s done, take it, and make a ball-like shape with it. Take the 5 sewing needles and place them in the gum, point up. **When putting in the needles make them give the caltrop a star shape.
I suppose you could use as many needles or pins as you like, or feel nessesary. I just figured 5 because a star has 5 points to it.
When some one steps on it, if the gum is still kinda fresh, it would be pretty crappy to be that person because the sticky gum would make it harder to pull off the shoe/sandal/whatever :P
I can’t say I’ve tried it yet so I’m not sure if it will work good or not, but let me know what you think ^_^

i take some old pieces of metal that i dont use anymore and bent them so that 1 point always stays up

Ya, but with the gum, wouldn’t it stick more, and be more of a pain???

i dont think it would work if people wair shoes. the needles would break

if you wanna make some heavy duty caltrops, what you need to do is this
get 4 x 2 inch nails per caltrop
get a blowtorch and some brazing rods
weld the nails together.
i used these once to escape some muggers at our skatepark, and that gave me all the time i needed to escape.
