why is everyone so worked up about this? if jesus had a wife and children, whats wrong with that? its not like it challenges their faith by saying jesus wasn’t divine. most christian churches teach that one of the reasons jesus came to earth was so that god would know what its like to be human. if thats true, then why wouldn’t jesus want to have a wife and children?

The movie is FICTIONAL, people shouldn’t take it so seriously. This movie requires to much thought and attention, I personally prefer a movie I can just laugh at withought hurting my brain.

Meh, they just want something to protest about, to get themselves noticed. Like kids with ADHD who always feel the need to attract attention to themselves. Its not like they(the producers) are actually challenging them and saying theyre right, all they want is a plotline.

i mean, i thought it was a good book, but these stupid catholics make such a big deal about it...the author publicly announced that he intended it to be fiction.

Well, the problem with it is, its diffrent from what the bible says...yes, i know its fiction....i personally went and saw the movie and didnt think there was anything wrong with it....but the problem is, people who dont know the real jesus christ thinks that he did have a wife and kid....there were these 4 kids sitting behind me in the theater discussing weither it were true or not...the one kid spoke up and said, "theres scientific proof that jesus had a wife and kids..and this is all true...its all gonna happen in the future...."so theres something think about...

to understand their problem with it, you have to understand their theology.
basically, they believe (and by "they" i mean the christian fundamentalists protesting the movie) that jesus was basically God in human form. Now, the problem lies in the fact that the two theories of Jesus = God and Jesus = Father seems a bit creepy/weird/blasphemous to think about- God having sex with a human (ie Mary Magdelene)- it sounds vaguely like pagan gods aka zeus etc that the romans believed in that would impregnate humans.
so basically, they dont want jesus to be a father because it would upset their views about him being divine.
Quote: one of the reasons jesus came to earth was so that god would know what its like to be human
ive never heard that-- what denomination teaches that? if God is all-knowing, wouldnt he already know?
those are both paradoxical issues that the fundamentalists dont like to think and therefore ignore because it challenges what they believe.
the real truth is, that there is no way to prove either theory (unless you get a dna sample of jesus and and dna sample of one of his supposed heirs, like in the da vinci code). you cant prove the bible is 100% accurate, and at the same time, you cant prove that these theories about jesus are 100% accurate either. they are just taht- theories.

Well actually both of those THEORYS are wrong.
And I know this... Because I know Jesus. He enjoys long walks on the beach and romantic talks with the ladies. But he wont have sex. Hes too cool for that.
Some of his hobbies are, eating banana’s, urinating on old women, and dancing to fall out boy with no shirt on.
So take this into account the next time you want to comment on this. Because I KNOW HIM. :O

Whatever it was that jesus did teach at one time or another was been twisted into transformed into something completely different over the ages - what people believe to be the teachings of jesus in the bible today are just offspins of some clever individuals alterior motives - power.

The book is a work of fiction ... people shouldn’t get all worked up about it unless they have a) read the book and b) know which parts are fictitious creations of the author.... For example the part about how the Roman Emperor Constantine re-wrote the bible at the council of Nicea (325 A.D) is true, we just don’t know EXACTLY what he changed, we only know some of it... The bible ( and other "holy books" too ) have been re-written over history so many times, how can we tell which parts were the original ones? We can’t.... In my opinion books such as the bible were meant to teach numerous lessons, not to be taken absolutely literally.
