What kind of machine is it and what kind of operating system does it use? When did the problem start and does it happen every single time you use those applications?
Can you play music on other players on your computer? Where is the music you are listening to come from-- i.e., is it downloaded or does this happen when you try to play a CD in the CD drive as well?

The new QuickTime usually comes bundled with i-Tunes, and i-Tunes can really make your PC work like shit! Did you download and install the one with i-Tunes?
If so and you don’t WANT i-Tunes in your PC, go to Add Remove programs and delete it and go to this page where you can get JUST QuickTime without any additional software. When installing it be sure to go into MIME Types and deselect which files you DON’T want QuickTime to open, ’cause if you let it, it will try to take over every type of file. But don’t worry; you can change these settings even AFTER you install it.
Need help, just ask!!
