This morning I told my father that I’ve hated the school since the second grade and that I’ve decided to drop out and get a GED. He thens gets furious at me and yells "Your not dropping out of shit!Your staying in fucking school!" I tell him that it’s my fucking choice and if I leave the house then what will he do about it? He procedes to choke the shit out of me and then tells me to give him my keys. I hand them to him and he says" Don’t come back." and I say "I’m not." Now I have no mother AND no father.
I’m now staying with some close friends until I get myself together. I’m also unemployed at the moment so I’m looking for a full time job,I’ll probably do a little plumbing since I know the trade. Life is fucking tough man . Can anyone relate to my problem?

ive been kicked out before and im tellin you right now. go back. eventually they’ll realize your gonna stay gone and they cant win, so theyll call the police and report you as a runaway. then youll end up in juvi.

How old are you? i’m pretty sure here in Jersey, you can’t leave your home until you’re 18...even if you do get kicked out, chip’s right...parents call the cops, and you’re forced to come back.

And here we go once again, someone comes to the HELP WITH LIFE forum and gets nothing but flames.
get the fuck off RE if you’re just gonna flame everyone. there are these things called intelligent conversations, please try to contribute to them.
And you can do shit in this world without schooling. plenty of people have gotten GEDs, gone to college, and led perfect lives. then there’s the type of people you see on Dirty Jobs...without them, life as we know it wouldn’t exist. time to stop being so ignorant, and give peace a chance.

I just turned 18 fyi. I know what I’m doing isn’t the smartest idea around but school is HELL for me. It’s not that I can’t do the work I just hate the constant noise and most of the people around me. I may sound like a pansy to you but I don’t give a fuck.

If you stay in school you’ll be better off.
But that being said, if you are an excellent plumber you could do worse for a trade. Plumbers can make some serious cash, but it’s very hard work and you’ll probably have to do an apprenticeship first.

Yea, sorry, its just that I know a whole bunch of people that plan on dropping out of school and they are not hard workers, so I know they are screwed in life. As I was reading his little dilema at the beginning of the thread, all I could think of was one of those people, so I responded to it like I would to one of them.

Sorry about my little thing in my post, for explanation read the little bit above your quote. I don’t really like talking to a lot of people in my school. I can only stand a few of them out of the whole lot that likes to try to talk to me.
Do you have any sort of personal music device, anything, CD, MP3, Portable Radio for that matter? If you do, spend 15 bucks and get a pair of Ear Subs. I swear, when I am wearing mine, I have my volume at less than half, and cannot hear a single thing. Its great. Hell, do it even if you don’t have a music player, just walk around with the subs in your ears.
Here’s the thing though. You are 18, apparentally, which means you are a junior or senior, correct? Then why the hell can’t you just stick it out for the rest of half of a year? Its kinda dumb to go through 11 grades and then give up on the last year of it. Put it this way...
If you are running a 3 mile race, are you gonna run 2.75 miles and then give up, just because you don’t like it, or are you gonna stick it out for the last quarter of a mile and finish? It doesn’t matter if you win or not, just finish.
If you are seriously set on this GED thing though, just realize that you are gonna have to work your ass off for your life.
Left Hand is right, you can make some good money, but you have to be a master at what you do. I know someone who is a master electrician, and he drives a 05’ DeVille and has a 45 foot Carver (Its a boat), however, he spent 35 years of his life getting to be a master electrician. For the times when he was just a general electrician, he was just barely getting by.
My point is, just know that if you take that route, you may be able to make a lot of money, but life will be hard before it gets easy.
I seriously think you should just stick it out in school, you will be much better off in life in the end. But, hey, its your choice ultimately, just hope you make the right one. Realize that what you choose now will not only change your life, but your wife and kid’s, when you get those, that is. Again, sorry about the little rant.

Just finish school. Seriously. I hate it too but if you deal with it, it just makes you stronger. You cant quit now that your so close. Plus if you graduate then you can get a job easier and you can move out soon anyway.

If school is hell then you should have asked your parents to get you into a different program. Leaving school altogether isnt going to get you anywhere.
in some places even if your 18 you need your parents consent to change schools.
You should have just talked to them about getting you into an independent study program so that you can turn in one subject a month and work from home.
Also you still havnt explained WHY school is hell for you other then you "hating the noise" lol.

I’ve decided to stay in school even though it sucks. I did the math a few days ago and found out I wouldn’t even have enough money to pay the rent,bills,utilities,groceries,and gas and still have any money left over. I was a little irrational. I’m just going to graduate, get my diploma, say "fuck you" on the school microphone, and then walk off stage. The principal wouldn’t be able to do shit anyway.

You just turned 18 and are dropping out? thats amazing in a bad way.
Im kind of in that situation. I got kicked out after i graduated, but i have a job and im staying with a friend till i can get back on my feet. You need to talk to your friends parents about working part time and staying there paying small rent until you graduate and find a better job, or go to college.

I quit school but I didn’t get kicked out. I got my ged and went to Alberta working for 5-6 months. I now have lots of money and bought a mustang a couple days ago.
Moral of the story: Chose your own paths in life. Sometimes they suck at first and are really hard but you will be happy in the end.

My parents are pretty upset as to how I turned out. They don’t like anything about me, and continuously threaten to kick me out, a couple times (before I turned 18) physically throwing me out. They’ve never really followed thru with it, like your parents, since they still love me deep inside, masked by great disappointment of my total lack of achievements and slow development/maturity.
Looking at my life realistically, if I got booted out, I’ll be lucky if I find an apartment, considering that I only make about 560 a month right now, and the minimum for an apartment, just for rent is at least 10 times as much (they won’t approve you unless the rent is less than 1/3 of your income. I got $8000 dollars in the bank, that’ll last 6 months tops, not counting utility or security deposit. Life is very hard if you’re poor or just happen to live in an area where the min livable income is about $65,000 single (extremely rich area for 15 miles all around, where are those crime-ridden, run down dump of an apartment when I need them?)
I’d advise to do back, apologize to your parents, finish school, make your parents proud, stay at home, go to college, get a job, finish college staying at home. Then move out when you have a job based on your vocational or degree you’ve earned.
My brother HATES school. Oddly, he gets a 4.5 GPA average, studies very hard for something he HATES so much. He’s going to UCLA starting this fall. I really don’t understand that.
Also, keep in mind, people without a GED or diploma gets 45% of the average income of a person with a GED or Diploma. That means you’ll need 210% (2.1 times) the effort of a person with a GED/Diploma to scrape together a decent living, not be in debt, and not reply on handouts or the government.
