Hello
my cars inside dome lights and my stereo decided not to work one day, as if no power was getting to them. Its not my battery because my head lights work and the speedometer lights work and i just replaced my altinator.
When i took my stereo out i noticed there was a 0.5 sized glass tube connected with a blue cord, could that be it?
someone please tell me whats wrong with my car and tell me how i could fix it and i will reward you with 50,000 egg points to the group of your choice!
thanks

Check your fusebox . . . I suspect you hooked the stereo to the same circuit as the dome light.
You might have to replace the fuse AND find a more forgiving spot on the fusebox for your stereo.

There is also a small fuse located on the back of the stereo, so look there too.

The fuse on the stereo wouldn’t prevent the Domelite from working though.

Where is chickengriddles?! Haha
No but seriously, (I know I’m just saying the same thing, but it is more reasurance) check the fusebox first to see if it was something as simple as that. The domelight and stereo could very possibly share the same fuse, so find a better space like Viper said.
If thats all in order, then get a voltage tester to make sure there is no interuption in the wiring. I doubt that could be it, but I have seen it happen to some.
Another thing that it could possibly be, is that when you redid the alternator, you may have "josteled" some wires loose. Check all the connections and clean up any corrosion on terminals and such things. This also probably isn’t it, but its not going to hurt to maintain your car.

Accessory Circuit.
Check inside of that tube, could be an inline fuse holder. Check your fuse panel(s).
If that doesn’t work, you may have an issue with your ignition switch, try putting it in accessory to see if it works or not. If it still doesn’t work, contact your local dealer for assistance.

It’d be funny if they were unrelated... Dome switch fails, and stereo blows fuse within a few minutes/hours of each other... Not likely, but still a possibility... I’d LoL.
