How could I have more egg points earned than what the limit allows? Just curious.

Its because you were not over your limit and then a vote pushed you past it, the system will not cheat you with the "overflow" points, it will still give them to you...
For example, assume that for today you earned 51 points. Then some very high level account votes your profile or one of your eggs a 5, it will give you the full amount of points for that vote, thereby surpassing your "limit" for the day.
Hope that makes it a bit more clear. If not, I’ll try to re-explain or maybe someone else will word it better.

You egg point limit is 52, lets say you had 51 egg points but a member rated you or an egg or yours. It would give you all of the points from that rating.
After you have reached your limit or want over it after a single vote you can go surpass it any farther.

If i rated you a 5* you would earn the full 300 points, even though your daily Point Limit is 52 pts. your member level is multiplied by the rating. (lvl 60 x 5 = 300pts)

I don’t know about that.. I think it only gives you up to your point limit on a vote. I think the only ways you can surpass the DPL is by selling puzzle pieces, winning the lotto, buying points or winning in the sports bets.

I just tested on a random nub.
He’s level 1. He had 0 votes, 0 EP. I voted 5*, now he has 20 EP.
Votes are capped by DPL. Sell stuff to exceed the limit.

There is a glitch that lets the DPL exceed for certain high member level votes.
