Well I was going to show you photos of my system but it looks like I’ll have to show you with google photos for now.
After two years of searching I have FINALLY managed to get hold of a NeXT Cube.
 
Forbes calls the thing one of the most collectable computers in existance. Mine comes with the regular 16 bit grayscale monitor with the audio connections built into it, the keyboard and mouse as well as the 256Mb Magneto optical drive, the 25Mhz 68040 processor, an unknown amount of ram (I can upgrade to 64Mb) and the necessary cables. I have to install a new 2Gb hard drive in it (as the old drive has died) as well as install NeXT Step 3.3 and in the future I plan to also install a 2.88Mb floppy drive, get the NeXT Laser printer as well as the external CD drive and someday, upgrade to color with a NeXT Dimension board and a 20" monitor.
I’m also working with a few other people on a project that will let us make our own memory upgrade SIMMs so we can max out the memory for the DSP.
Oh yeah, here are a few more photos as well as a low quality of how they build the motherboard which looks like this.

I traded my Macintosh SE (which I got back in 98) for this. It was one hell of a deal and it has been in the works since February.

It was a good deal. A cube like that will fetch at least $400 on ebay and the SE a mere $75 (if lucky).

Remember that kid who got an N64 for christmas? Now add an anxious me and the cube.

Great comparison. Tape yourself doing that when it arrives just screaming at the box and stuff, and I don’t know what I could give (being I don’t have Paypal or anything), but that’d be so worth it.

What does it do?
Well at the least it can play Quake as well as Doom and it apparently does a damn good job at making printable graphics. I personally want to try out Object C (Visual basic for Unix but you never have to type any lines of code).
