Ok, so before anyone on here tells me "This is common knowledge you nub!! 0*" Yes I know, that 95% of people on this site already know this, but for that other 5%, here it is.

You see, lately I have seen many posts in the forums and comments asking how to make screenshots. I found this odd, because I thought most all people knew how, but I explained it to some of them non-the-less.

Then I thought to myself, I should search the directory to see if there is an egg on this. Surprisingly enough, there isn’t, at least not one that I could find. So I decided, why not make an egg on it for those few that do not know how to.

Anyways, going back to my first statement in this egg, for those who already know how to do this and those who are going to tell me how common this knowledge is, just please, either don’t rate at all, or rate it on how well it is explained.

Also, I am sorry if it stretches your screen, but I wanted to make it possible to read the smaller fonts and such in my screenshots.

So now on to the egg...

(The pics that don’t look like screenshots were taken from Google Image Search)

In order to make a screenshot that you can post in a forum you must first do these steps.

When you find the page you want to take the screenshot of, you press the button on the keyboard that says "prt scr", "Print Screen" or something along those lines. It should be right next to the "Scroll Lock" button and above the area with "Insert."

Standard Keyboard^

There is one of a laptop keyboard I believe.^

After striking the Print Screen button, you are going to want to go ahead and open the program Paint. (I believe you can also use Photoshop and other image editing programs, but in the interest of time and the fact, its not that important we will use paint.)

After opening Paint, go to Edit > Paste. Or use the shortcut keys of Ctrl+V. This will bring up the page you just hit the Print Screen button on. (I will use the RE homepage for my example.) Forgive me, but this picture is kind of confusing because it has so much going on in the background. The main thing to see is that there is a screenshot of RE’s homepage in Paint.

Ok now that you have the picture in Paint, feel free to make any adjustments to it. (Aka, edit it).

Once you are finished with editing it, go to File > Save As. In the "Save As" box, go to the format downbutton and select JPEG. It will make it quicker and smaller to upload. Then name it and click "Save."

Ok now to uploading it. For my egg, I am going to use Photobucket, because it is what I already have an account on.

First go to Photobucket.com. (Photobucket)
If you do not already have one, create an account. If you do, when you log in it should bring you to a screen like the one below. Once at this screen, click the "Browse" button and find your picture that you saved from Paint earlier. When you have found it and clicked OK in the browse box, Click the large "Upload" button at the bottom of the Photobucket uploading box.

Now the photos are uploaded into an album, so you can resize them and such. To resize a picture for an egg/forum post/comment click the photo you wish to edit. It should bring you to a screen like the one below. Once here click the little tab that says "Resize" and go down to the size you want. (Yes I know this is odd I speak of resizing, yet all my pictures are very large, but I wanted them to be able to be read.) You may also fiddle around with the other settings above the picture, but I’m not going to explain anything about those.

OK so, your picture is resized, now all you need to do is copy the IMG Code at the bottom right corner of the page, or if you are in the album, right under the picture. Simply click it, and it should copy itself, however, to be sure you may want to still Right Click > Copy.

Now to post that in an egg, forum, comment, bulletin, etc. just Paste the code.

Now before you do anything, make sure you preview your post or whatever yours is, to make sure it worked. And thats it, you just sucessfully made a screenshot. Don’t worry if for some odd reason this took you a long time, you will get quicker and be able to do it in about a minute or two.
