Ok So the first thing you need to know if your a beginner is tabs. They’re simple to learn and easy to explain. So when you come across something like
G|------------|
D|------------|
A|------------|
E|777777777777|
it means that the all the 7’s are played in a row on the frets(the space between the the bars on the neck of the guitar)

the "E" is the thickest string on the bass and the top and then the "G" is the thinest and smallest on a 4 string.

So now I ned to tell you what to do.
First just jam out a bit play some punk songs you know and just let your mind open up. After you have warmed up you now need to get started on writing.

So most punk bass tabs are pretty simple and great to start off with learning. You usually start out on the fat string at the top and strum on a note like 5 or 7 go up 2 frets and drop down to the 2nd or 3rd fret. after strumming it for a bit just play around. Try playig with an open string or a higher fret. You can pretty much play that through the whole song since punk bass lines are so simple for songs.

My advice to give you is to look at some Misfits bass lines. They’re simple and easy to get a idea for a song just by looking at it and watching how Jerry plays. Jerry Only isn’t the only bassist to do this most punk bassits do follow the high fret then up 2 frets and drop "rule". I hope someone gets a song written from this.
