Okay here is how you pick a master lock. when picking the handheld master lock, you should start from pin 1 to pin 5 (front to back). because most handheld master locks have only four pins in the core they are quite easy. But do not expect it to just open, my fisrt time happened thirty minutes after i started, but it took me over a hole day just picking at random times, But now i can manually pick every pin in about 6-7 seconds, and can rake in about 4-5 seconds.
Fisrt you need the right picks, for this particular job you need the Diamond pick,(See the pictures on the to see the common picks)and you need a tension wrench, The thin strip of metal that holds the wiper on a windshield wiper work great, allen wrenches are a pain because the need to much work, whereas the wiper strip is a perfect fit. These also work incredibley for picks, the are quite springy and very strong. you could also make a Rake pick and attach it to an electric toothebrush for an easier way.
Now that you have your tools, your ready to pick, first determine how many pins the lock has, to do this just figure, How long is the lock,How thick, how heavy, and remember, the bigger the lock, the more pins there are. but this particular lock has four pins, and the turn is counter clockwise for opening, with this, here we go.
Insert the tension wrench into the lower half of the keyhole, and slowly (this is just opractice)insert the pick, while applying slight pressure to the wrench, push the first pin up until you feel thee SLIGHTEST reduced amount of movement, youve set the first pin, now dont release any pressure, because you will release the set pin, now push the pin until you feel a springy felling on the pick, there, your right under the second pin, now push that up until you feel another slight reduce in the preesure on the tension wrench, good you have set the second pin, remember keep even pressure, now skip under the third pin and go straight to the fourth, now this one will be tricky, you now wont feel that pressure release as before so its hard to tell if you set it, put the pick right under pin 4 and push straight up with about 2x the amount of pressure that you used on the others, now you wont be sure but it should be set, now go back to the third and set that pin using the method used on the fisrt two, if it does not open after you have set the third pin, go back to the forth and jiggle it and it will set automaticly because its the last one.
Now you have picked your first lock, now practice practice practice, soon you will be very good.
Tip of the egg:
to highten the sense in your fingers, get a 180 grit peice of sand paper and slowly rub your fingers on it for 2 minutes per day, in a week or so you will be able to feel the slightest vibration, thus able to tell when a pin is setwith no problem.
Good pickings!
