Alright, I figured a little trick on Limewire a while back and just remembered doing it, so I figured I’d share. Obviously, if you don’t use Limewire, this isn’t going to help you. Although, it might work on some other P2P programs, I dunno. I haven’t used any other P2P’s since WinMX bit the dust.
To start off, open Limewire and on the main screen, click on Tools and then on Options. Should be simple enough, but hey... here’s a picture.
After you’ve done that, click on Filters and then on Keywords. This option allows you to block words you don’t want to find on Limewire. You can also block out file types. This is helpful, since a lot of the fake "music" files out there are .wma. You know, the ones the generate keywords to them that are whatever you just typed into the search engine. So by typing in .wma and adding it, you can block out a good chunk of those ad-files from getting into your search.
Granted, this doesn’t work if you want to search for .wma files, but I personally don’t search for them and a good bit of people I talk to don’t either. Oh, and of course, you can block other ad-files that spam their way into your searches as well.
